Casa Fagliano’s latest development comes straight out of the Argentinian lifestyle: the “Alpargata” or the street loafer of the polo player.
The Alpargatas is an evolution of rope shoes introduced in Argentina by the Spanish in the 15th century. In the 1850’s there were about 50 families in Buenos Aires producing and living off the construction of their handmade Alpargatas.
Originally, the practical slip on shoe is made of canvas fabric and rope and was developed as an affordable shoe for the rural workers. The mythical gauchos of Argentina popularised the alpargatas, wearing them on and off there horse, wherever they go. The Argentinian loafer is appreciated for its comfort and practicality.
The Fagliano’s have revisited the Alpargata and turned it into a sophisticated item of clothing. Made of the softest suede, in a selection of colours with a very light and conformable wear. Our Argentinian loafer is beautifully hand-stitched by our expert craftsman with an internal lining to ensure added comfort and durability. It is also equipped with a discreet pull tab at the back for an ease of wear.
Our Argentinian Loafer is the perfect option for the discerning gentleman looking for a comfortable and yet elegant style of footwear, ideal for a smart-casual sockless summer.
